Diving holiday in Hurghada | On the boat

Diving holiday Hurghada, Red Sea, Egypt, Tips

A diving boat is mostly the home of the boatcrew. In Egypt, shoes aren't worn inside the house so you'll be asked to take of your footwear when you step on the boat.

Please don't throw toiletpaper in the toilets on the boat. The toiletpaper will go directly into the sea and covers the coral with as a result it can't absorb light and food.

Stay away from the front and the sides of the boat when the boat starts mooring so you won't hinder the boatcrew.

Please don't feed the fish because it disturbs the natural balance in the sea.

Topless sunbathing is not wise in Egypt. Don't forget you're in an Islamitic country.

Throw all your garbage in the garbage containers. Plastic will otherwise end up in the sea. Don't throw sigaret butts in the sea either, it will take many years for them to dissolve.

When you hang your dive suit, make sure to zip it up so the wind doesn't blow it from the boat.

Never climb on a dive ladder when there's still another diver above you. When the diver slips, the first thing that will hit you is the dive tank.

In Egypt, we use unprotected lead. So, always wash your hands after assembling your weight belt to avoid lead poisoning.

When you visit Hurghada in winter, it's wise to bring a bathing robe on the boat.

Take enough suncream with a high factor with you. At sea, you'll get a sunburn twice as fast. Wash the suncream from your face before the dive to avoid a leaking mask. While diving, sunbeams will still reach you, so it's wise to put suncream on your neck, arms and legs when you wear a shorty.

Drink loads of water.
